The Format

Each submission to the MATHmodels must follow these formatting guidelines:

  1. Partial solutions are acceptable.
  2. Approach & Methods must be included.
  3. Conciseness and Organization are extremely important
  4. Key statements should present major ideas and results
  5. Present a clarification or restatement of the problem, as appropriate.
  6. Present a clear exposition of all assumptions and hypotheses.
  7. Present an analysis of the problem, justifying or motivating the modeling to be used.
  8. Include the design of the model.
  9. Discuss how the model can be tested, including error analysis and stability (conditioning, sensitivity, etc.).
  10. Discuss strengths and weaknesses of the model.
  11. Incorporate lengthy derivations, computations, or illustrative examples in appendices or on computer disks.
  12. Summarize the Results in one page.
  13. Results must be explicitly stated. Do not bury the results in the appendices.
